Orange Monkey Pro Team to take on Absa Cape Epic with Paarl Media

Paarl Media - Cape Epic Leading South African commercial printing company, Paarl Media are to sponsor top Cross Country Mountain Bike team for 2014 Absa Cape Epic.

Orange Monkey Pro Team will partner with Paarl Media as riders Ben Roff & Rab Wardell take on the world’s toughest Mountain Bike stage race. The team have a strong alliance with South Africa having had two of the countries best talents in the team over past years and will now enter the race with the full backing of a company with parallels in work ethic, community values and investment in youth development.

Ben and Rab have embarked on a strict training regime aimed solely at preparing for a race they know will test both physical and mental capacity to the maximum.

Paarl Media have a long association with Mountain Biking and also sponsor a youth development team as well as Elite athlete Cherie Vale who will both be working with Orange Monkey when the team comes to visit in March. The partnership between Orange Monkey Pro Team and Paarl Media starts with a one-year deal for 2014, in which the Youth Development team will ride with the famous Orange Monkey emblem displayed on their jersey with a view to a potentially long term plan for developing young South African athletes and giving them the opportunity to race in Europe.

Orange Monkey Pro Team riders Roff and Wardell will start there Epic journey with a two week training camp in March before the race begins and will be joined by the teams South African rider, Mariske Strauss, also competing in the Cape with her partner Hanlie Booyans under the Pragma-Orange Monkey banner.

Rab Wardell
Rab Wardell - Cape Epic Rab is Scotland’s pride and there most talked about rider other than Chris Hoy! He has a wealth of experience and knowledge that will help him and team mate Ben Roff take on the Absa Cape Epic stage race in the teams first joint pairing. Rab is also a favorite for a Commonwealth Games place and will target moving up in the World Rankings.

Ben Roff
Ben Roff - Cape Epic Ben is a gifted athlete and whilst still relatively young has years of experience behind him. Having been Welsh National Champion as a Junior, Ben is aiming towards a strong finish in his first Cape Epic with Rab Wardell. He is also working towards a Commonwealth Games spot as well as a successful first World Cup campaign.

It’s an exciting development for the Orange Monkey Pro Team who are delighted to be taking part in such a prestigious race alongside such a great company.
